5 Underrated Minnesota Theme Parks to Visit This Year
Minnesota's home to some pretty cool theme and amusements parks.
But those are only scratching the surface of unique and fun hot spots around the state.
Here are five underrated theme parks around Minnesota worth visiting:
1. Drive a Tank -- Kasota, MN
I think people forget this experience is available right here in Minnesota. Voted a full 5 out of 5 on Trip Adviser and featured on the likes of ABC News, Fox News, Forbes and NPR, Drive a Tank caters to the thrill-seeker in all of us. Drive tanks, shoot guns, crush cars and blast through houses. At prices ranging from $299 to $2,599, this is probably less a family day out and more a special event or celebration opportunity.
2. Casey's Amusement Park -- Alexandria, MN
Voted 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Adviser, Casey's Amusement Park offers fun for the whole family without the prices or crowds of larger parks like Valley Fair or Nickelodeon Universe. From Go Karts to mini golf, bumper boats to batting cages and more there really is something for everyone! Just an hour and 15 minute drive from St. Cloud -- and open every day May through September -- this is an easy day out with the family.
3. Paul Bunyan Land -- Brainerd, MN
What's more Minnesotan than Paul Bunyan Land! Located in Brainerd, MN, Paul Bunyan Land is a one-of-a-kind experience dedicated to one of American folklore's greatest legends. Old amusement park rides like a tilt-a-whirl, boats, flying cages, roller coaster, merry-go-round, Ferris wheel and more offer the thrills while a Pioneer Village complete with post office, music store, gazette, saloon, school house, mill and more offer a piece of history. Plus, everyone needs to get a photo with the 26-foot animated talking Paul Bunyan.
4. Three Bear Waterpark and Craguns Laser Tag -- Baxter, MN
Ranked the #2 best thing to do in Baxter, MN Three Bear Waterpark and Craguns Laser Tag is a certain hit with the whole family. The kids will love the waterpark's giant splash bucket, tube slide, body slide, and plunge slide while the giant hot tub and lazy river offer a welcome respite for the adults. A huge blacklight, glow-in-the-dark lazer tag arena and 15-game arcade room offer additional fun for everyone.
5. Como Regional Park Pool -- St. Paul, MN
Como Regional Park Pool in St. Paul may not have all the bells and whistles of many other water parks, but on a hot day in the middle of summer it's more than enough! Ranked 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Adviser and boasting plenty of swimming space, diving board and platforms, a lazy river, basketball hoops, aquatic climbing wall and even zipline, the whole family will have a blast! At $24 admission fee for a family of 5, it's also easily affordable. Additional perks include free life vests to rent, locker rooms and concessions.
